Wii Fit that is. On Friday I had acheived one of my major mile stones in this weight loss kick – I had dropped below 150kg so I could get a Wii Fit. Of course when I got the Wii Fit on Saturday and got home I had put some weight on and was over the 150kg lim – poo!
I know some people will tell me that the Wii Fit is a waste of money, that it’s rubbish and faddish, but it was a goal and I think that I really need to honour any goals that I set myself, however rubbish.
Honestly I’m not too worried about putting that little bit of weight on. Friday mornings (when I weigh in) are the weight low point of the week, so I’m going to put some on by a Saturday evening, expecially if I make my weekly takeaway a pizza on the Friday night. I’m sure that by the end of this week I’ll be fine and will be wondering why I bought the Wii Fit.
So the next target is 145kg, I’m allowed to buy myself a CD or DVD when I get there. When I get to 140kg I’ll be allowed to buy a new game. Perhaps when I get to 100kg I’ll use that as an excuse to buy a PS3
So, I’m now two months into this weght-loss kick, seems to be going ok – I’ve lost 10 kilos, clothes are looser, and the graph is still on a downward trend.
This afternoon I go for an initial consultation at the recreation centre in Bridgend for excercise on referral. My doctor has referred me to them, which is slightly concerning, but on the other hand I’m willling to take any help I can get. I’m led to believe I’ll get a free gym membership and some kind of personal trainer assistance. If that is so and I manage to keep interested in it long enough then it’ll be a useful thing, but I know that I’m not likely to stay interested, I get bored easy.
In other news, after 3 years in my flat I finally have a nice sofa and armchair. Up until now I’ve had an old sofa bed that was only ever designed for occaisional use, and an ikea rocking chair. I went out just after Christmas and ordered a 3 seater (officially 2.5 seater) sofa and an armchair, they got delivered today after being delayed by the French port blockades.
I loved that the delivery guys were to take away the old sofa bed but didn’t want to have to carry anything downstairs that they didn’t have to – the cushions from the sofa bed and the wrapping from the new stuff just got thrown out of my 2nd floor (some might call them 3rd floor since there are two flats below mine) french doors, and destroyed a couple of shrubberies
I am going to have a good sit down this evening.
I was getting a little bored with the old site layout, and was feeling constrained by the single sidebar – the sidebar took up more vertical space than my posts! So I have picked a new theme for the blog.
I’m very happy with the result. It’s a three-column theme so I now have two sidebars to spread out in, and it supports threading in comments, so when you comment and I reply, it gets wonderfully nested and stuff!
Still a little tweaking to do, might add some header images to the first one I could lay my hands on. It’s a photo of Mumbles Head taken from the mumbles road. I think it was the first photo that I took with my Fuji camera.
I grew up in Swansea and spent many a weekend cycling along the front between Mumbles (where I could get an ice cream) and the marina (where I could also get an ice cream) at the other end of Swansea Bay. After we moved to Llanelli I didn’t cycle so much, but kept on eating that ice cream!
So this is how the site will look for a while, how long is anybody’s guess – either I’ll get bored of it really quickly and change it again, or I’ll like it enough to get lazy. Time will tell.
Today (or yesterday technically) was the one month mark on this spell of weight loss. I have lost 4.6kg (10.1lbs) so far.
I have to admit that I’ve found it pretty easy going, perhaps that is a sign that I’m not trying hard enough and I could lose more weight faster if I tried. I dunno, but apparently the rate I’m going at is a good rate. So says my sister, and she should know (being an actual dietitian and all).
I have resurrected the old spreadsheet doodad and the progress graph is just above (linking to the spreadsheet if you’re interested). I seem to remember that last time I tried this, keeping track worked well as a motivational tool – doing well? keep going! doing badly? kick up the arse!
So it’s back to trying to lose some weight… AGAIN!
This time around I’m going to attack my bulging gut from two angles – exercise and diet.
I’m not going to diet, because I don’t think diets work, not for me anyway. What I’m doing is eating better food, homemade where I can, and much less junk. This week for example I have made fajitas (beef and chicken), chili con carne, and bolognese, and taken the leftovers in to work with me for lunch the next day. It’s certainly helping my pocket because I’m not buying lunch every day, and it seems to be working for the weight too – I’m down 3lbs this week.
The exercise regime is more difficult, I do hate early mornings and getting out of bed at 6am to go to the gym just isn’t on my list of favourite things. However if I manage to get it to be routine then it might just stick this time.
Let’s see how long I can stick it out this time… (the weight loss for the more filthy minded of you)
