Coffee trinkets of desire

I like coffee, I also like all the paraphernalia that goes around coffee – the machines, the tools, I particularly am fond of mugs. If I see a mug, particularly an insulated doobery, that piques my interest then I have to have it.

That is exactly what happened last Wednesday. I went over to the shop to get some coffee for my little one-cup filter jobbie (oh I do like coffee gadgets) and there was this mug sitting on a shelf looking all sparkly and shiny. I just had to have it.

I’ve got a good half dozen or so insulated travel mugs, and a collection of porcelain mugs with logos and wotnot. I have a mug that tells me to RTFM! and one that asks WTF?! Now my collection has been joined by the new mug… sort of.

This mug won’t be living in my cupboard at home, not for a while at least. This mug will be living on my desk in work where it shall be the envy of all who see it (or a bludgeon for any that don’t show appropriate appreciation). It also carried the benefit of being cavernous, so I get twice as much coffee in it for 5p less than a cardboard cup from the coffee shop. Hooray for environmental policies.

I also today spotted my birthday present. If someone wants to get me one of these then they will be my bestest friend for ever and ever and ever.

“What,” I hear you ask “is that?”

That my friend is a vacuum chamber for the purposes of storing of coffee beans. Yes you heard me – to keep the beans as fresh as possible, this storage jar actually removes all the air from inside it.

Genius!

So yeah, if someone wants to get me one of those, and maybe a nice bag of beans to go in it, maybe some intelligentsia beans to go in it, then I would be brought almost to tears of gratitude. Almost – I of course have no tears because the coffee consumption has left me as dehydrated as a very dry thing (possibly a date).

It’s just a shame that my birthday is so dang far away
