CCNP - Done

What a week.

Someone asked me recently why I always take exams when I have time off work. The truth is that I take time off work to do exams, that’s how I roll baby! The only real time I can make for myself to study is on days when I don’t have to travel to work, so weekends or holidays. So it was this last week, I had an exam scheduled for Friday so I took the week off for some final (and some might point out necessary) preparation.

Unfortunately this week I managed to come down with a rather vicious cold that made any kind of study difficult from Monday through until Wednesday afternoon. So my week of study suddenly became just a couple of days, and I wound up doing the exam through a medicine induced haze.

Still I think this image says it all, I did somehow manage to scrape through with a pass. I say “scrape through”, I managed a 941, which in the odd twisted scoring world of these exams equates to 92%, but I assure you it was a hard fought result.

In these exams you get 90 minutes for 50 – 60 questions, so you budget a minute and a half per question. That works well for any question except for the LAB simulations where you’re presented with a simulation and a scenario (this is supposed to be happening, but it isnt what’s wrong? fix it!). They take considerably longer than a standard question, but still count as just one (timewise). I had one of those buggers as the first question. Nightmare! It’s difficult to know how much time to spend on it when it’s right there at the start.

Unfortunately between the two simulations and a couple of other of the bigger type of questions I actually only had 10 minutes to spare at  the end of the exam, so there were no comments on me being quick this time.

However, with all that said and done, the BCMSN exam was the final exam for me in getting CCNP certified, so I now have a CCNP certification!
